JUDY MALLOY grew up in Houghton, New York, a tiny town of 400 people somewhere south of Buffalo. At the tender age of nineteen she came to New York City to study acting. She is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts where she was a member of the Production Company and a recipient of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Foundation Scholarship. Being on the road has been a big part of Judy's career. First with children's theatre and summer stock and later at regional theatres like the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia where she played Sally in The Hired Man, The Goodspeed Opera House, where she created roles in Carol Hall's Goodsports and Amanda McBroom's Heartbeats, and George Street Playhouse where she recreated her Off-Broadway role of "the gossip sister" in Robert Nassif Lindsay's Opal. She created the role of Calamity Jane in the world premiere of Larry Gatlin and Amanda McBroom's Calamity and Wild Bill. Judy was extremely proud to tour the country for 17 months creating and performing twelve different characters in the national tour of Les Misérables. In New York City she has expanded her career, performing in cabaret theatre and was featured in two revues dedicated to the work of new musical theatre writers: April Fools - Funny Songs and The New Music Review, both at Steve McGraw's. She has created and starred in three other one-woman evenings: A Girl Has to Celebrate, Judy Malloy Gets Away With Murder and Angels Unawares. For her work in Angels Unawares Judy was named "Best New Artist" by CaB Magazine and was honored with Back Stage's 1994 Bistro Award as "Outstanding Female Vocalist." Judy is also a featured artist on three CDs: Varèse Sarabande's Lost in Boston I, Lost in Boston III and Unsung Irving Berlin. She just completed the run of Side Show as "The Sixth Exhibit," which marked her Broadway debut. She is a storyteller and believes that listening to the stories of others and telling one's own is the greatest privilege we share as people on the journey together. She is a licensed massage therapist and seeks to pursue the gift of healing arts on and off the stage.
