Clint deGanon - drums
featuring
Annie Sellick - vocals
Dave Mann - saxophone
and special guest artist MARC JOHNSON on
bass
"…it's
the arresting, quirky singer — Annie
Sellick's catchy, smart-as-a-fox alto — that
steals the show…. On Low Standards,
Bergeson and vibist Steve Shapiro lead their
low-key band through Latinized classics and
lush, leisurely originals with lucid grace….
When they back Sellick on shorter alternating
tracks, they ease into overdrive for her insinuating
smears and hints of Diana Krall and savvy Carmen
McRae snap."

Happy New Year…
We're going to hit it early in 2006. In
addition to Anthony Branker, the new year
will see a pair of projects for guitarist Bob
Sneider: his duo with pianist Paul
Hofmann produces Escapade,
a follow-up to 2003's Interconnection,
and Fallen Angel from
the Bob Sneider/Joe Locke Film Noir
Project. Mike
Holober will release his second
quintet recording entitled Wish
List, with John Patitucci,
Brian Blade, Tim Ries and Wolfgang Muthspiel.
Also in the pipeline is It Don't
Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing from Fred
Wesley and the Swing 'N Jazz All-Stars,
a studio jam celebrating the annual golf
tournament and concert series in support
of The
Commission Project, a music
education nonprofit supported by Sons of
Sound. Rounding out the forward calendar, Akira
Tana and the Secret Agent Men
will finally unveil their favorite Bond girl
on Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. |
