DYROFF Andy Parsons is a busy guy. He’s a top jazz saxophonist, a composer of film and television scores, a sideman for touring jazz acts and a leader of two bands of his own -- Fundamentia and the Andy Parsons/Gene Lewin Quartet. Tonight, Parsons and the quartet will perform a Lansdowne Folk Club show at the Twentieth Century Club in Lansdowne. The foursome features Parsons on sax, Ben Monder on guitar, Adam Armstrong on upright bass and Lewin on drums. Lewin is a familiar face to local music fans, since he has played with the rock band Groovelily (which opens its own holiday show at the Prince Music Theater next week). "Fundamentia is more of a fusion band, while the quartet is more straight-ahead," Parsons said during a phone interview last week from his home in Brooklyn. "Writing-wise, there is a big difference. The quartet has much more melody and the guitar just playing a single line. "When I’m composing for the quintet, I start with piano and come up with a harmonic sound form. When I’m composing for the quartet, I write on sax and write the melodies first. And the way I compose for film scores is totally different from either. "My first album, ‘Fundamentia,’ was recorded in 1999 and the second,‘A Whole Nother Story,’ was done in 2001. The new album, which is the quartet album, is called ‘Flip’ and it will be released in January." All of Parsons’ recordings have been released by Sons of Sound Productions, which is also the label for Lewin and his Groovelily bandmates. "I think we’ll do a couple tunes from the first two CDs," said Parsons, who has a master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music. "We’ll also be doing songs from ‘Flip.’ With the quartet, since I want to emphasize the horn, we use harmonies that outline the tunes in a sparse way." What: The
