November 15, 1999 -- NEW YORK -- Sons of Sound recording artist Judy Malloy returns to the Broadway stage in the world premiere of the new musical "Abby's Song."

Special guest star Paul Sorvino joins an award-winning Broadway cast in this new musical about a girl named Abby, a free-spirited girl whose warm heart and great energy tend to shake up the people of the small Montana town where her father is the head shepherd. She wants to "fly a rainbow, ride a cloud, paint a sunrise in colors bold and loud." A young angel named Danny encourages her to follow her dream and become a shepherd like her father and brother. This worries her parents -- will Abby ever find a place in their world? Danny wants her to join the shepherds so that she can quide them to the place where a new baby is being born. All they have to do is follow the star...Abby's struggle to become her own person, her loving relationship with her family and a smart retelling of the Christmas story come together with enchanting songs and joyous dancing to make "Abby's Song" a perfect holiday musical for the whole family.

"Abby's Song" was written by Mary Pat Kelly, a prolific writer of screenplays and documentarian and composer Elliot Willensky who worked for "Motown" and wrote Michael Jackson's first hit "Got To Be There." It is directed by acclaimed Broadway director Randy Skinner who most recently co-directed and cheoreographed the world premiere of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "State Fair."
