“...playing with a crackling intelligence, the players bring it off with aplomb… adept at negotiating the boundaries between composition and improvisation… Robust and intellectually satisfying!” – Cadence WHO & WHY: Fundementia: the Andy Parsons/Gene Lewin Quintet will celebrate the release of their second CD “a whole nother story” (Sons of Sound CD # 007) with a two-set performance. Andy Parsons is a promising young composer on New York’s Jazz scene, and Gene Lewin tours regularly with up-and-coming rock and jazz groups. The quintet includes Mike Holober on keyboards, Pete McCann and Chris Tarrow on guitar and John Hebert on bass. WHAT: The CD release concert will spotlight repertoire from the CD, all of it composed by Andy Parsons, a Tufts University and Manhattan School of Music graduate who has performed with the likes of Bob Mintzer, Dave Liebman, David Sanborn, Claudio Roditi and others. WHEN: Friday, January 5th, sets at 9:00 and 10:30 PM at the Cornelia Street Café, 29 Cornelia Street in the West Village between Bleecker and West 4th Streets. HOW: A,B,C,D,E and F trains to West 4th street - Cornelia is one block to the West. 1 & 9 Trains to Christopher Street, Cornelia is one block to the East once you reach Bleecker.
